GG Fashion Police

I did not watch the VMA’s. But thanks to twitter, E!, facebook,  and People, I really didn’t need to. Ahh I love social media…

The most important thing: Jay-Z and Beyonce. Last night when I found out that Beyonce was pregnant I started smiling. And almost got off my chair to do a little victory dance. And I texted mark with all capitals. I may have screamed out loud – or it may have been in my head. Not really sure. BUT I AM SO HAPPY FOR HER/THEM!!!! YAY!!!! I have been waiting for this moment. This baby is going to be beautiful and is going to come into this world with more talent that half the people who were even at the VMA’s last night. Seriously – I might be more excited for Beyonce than I was for Kate Middleton. And that was an impressive excitement.

But now let’s move onto fashion. I’m pretending to be Joan Rivers for five minutes.
Or maybe Kelly Osborn. Fashion Police Gertie Girl Style…

Worst Dressed of the Night
Miley vs. Britney

120463613JM037_2011_MTV_Vid 112197834RW037_The_28th_Ann

Miley’s dress isn’t THAT bad, but she just looks so darn awkward.. Actually I take that back – animal print, floral print, fading blues, stripes, long sleeves, train – it’s a hot mess. Maybe it’s just the fact that she wore it to this event, but I’m not loving it. And Britney looks lost/dazed/confused. Also what is she wearing? The shoes might be the best part about the outfit…

And the Worst Dressed goes to… Miley.
I mean common. She’s what – 19? And that’s the best she can do? I’m not a Miley fan to begin with, but I’m pretty sure  she could have asked someone for help when getting dressed. Britney has had two kids, has had many lows among her highs, and for all she’s been through looks ok. Maybe she forgot to make a hair appointment.

Most Bizarre of the Night
Katy Perry vs. Niki Minaj

I think that Katy Perry is beautiful.
Exhibit A: The Smurfs movie premier and last years VMA’s.

katy katy2

She’s always been playful and I think it’s fun and cute. She’s proved she can do that but still look beautiful. I mean that blue eye make-up and blonde hair was gorgeous! But this year’s VMA’s was just bad. I’m not loving the pink hair or the dress or the umbrella.
She looks twelve. Obnoxious twelve.

And Niki. Who I also think is super pretty but downplays her looks… Last night she literally covered them up. When I first saw this outfit I had flashbacks to the Gaga episode of Glee when Rachel comes to rehearsal in that pathetic dress made out of beanie babies or Hello Kitty’s or whatever. And they’re coming off. And Kurt get’s that pitiful look on his face. Yes that’s exactly how I felt. Poor Niki. Covering up her pretty face and wearing the strangest assortment of things on her body. It’s like someone dumped the barney bag on her while she was wearing glue or something. STRANGE.

And the Most Bizzare award goes to…. Niki.

It’s one thing to be out there. She’s proven she’s crazy with her wigs and makeup before. But this is just out-there. And not even artistically out-there like some of the stuff Lady Gaga has done. This is just all wrong. Let Gaga do her thing. Maybe she knew you were going to be doing this and that’s why she decided not to wow us with a crazy outfit and just show up as a dude. (I wasn’t going to mention that at all, but I think it needed a nod).
And speaking of the barney bag…

Best Barney Babe
Selena vs. Demi

Selena has looked WAYYY better. This dress isn’t too bad, but every time the mullet dress comes back it’s cute on the first three people who wear it and then it’s old again. Which is kind of the case here. Plus it looks like Halloween is coming early around her neck. Demi is just smokin’. Her voice sounds incredible on her lastest single and she’s overcome a lot in this past year. She remains positive and never stops thanking her fans. I love that she's not a little twig, but she looks fit and healthy. Her hair is also out of this world. I’d pay large sums of money for hair like this…

So which Barney Tot turned Disney Princess turned Total Babe wins… DEMI!!
This girl is on fire. And she’s was working it last night. You go girl! She’s also friends with the Kardashians. I mean really – Kim Kardashian as a surrogate older sisters or Justin Bieber to gallivant around Hawaii with? In this case – Demi wins. In every other situation Selena wins. I do love me some Bieber sans the snake.

And finally, as if her baby announcement wasn’t amazing enough, Beyonce looked stunning. Which is nothing new – she always looks flawless.
She’s my best dressed pick.

And then because I just can’t NOT mention them…Kim matched Demi, but I thought she looked blahhh. Not the best dress for her. And Adele looked precious. I would have loved to be apart of that standing ovation.

Two Month Countdown

Well ladies and gents – we’re gettin’ mighty mighty close. In exactly two months I will be in the Bride Room at church finishing up my makeup, helping Kayla with any last minute details, and trying not to go to the bathroom seventy-three times JUST because I’m excitingly anticipating the hour ahead… (anybody else feel like a pregnant woman when they’re nerves are acting up??)

I’ve never been in a wedding before so I’m really really excited :) The one thing I’m not exactly looking forward to is my walk down the isle. Do I stare straight ahead? Do I smile at people I know? Ahh decisions decisions. And what if in typical-me-fashion I’m already an emotional mess and I have happy tears sliding all down my cheeks? That’ll be super attractive :) But I guess whatever happens happens – I think I’ll smile at people I know.
It seems only natural to do that…

Kayla decided on the colors of the wedding  (Navy with a springy-sage accent) but didn’t ever find a bridesmaids dress that she loved. Then she found this picture online and was so upset that she couldn’t find where the dress was from. Thankfully, her fiance’s mom and her best friend are both seamstresses and they offered to make our dresses!!
This picture is from my old phone and isn’t very clear but the element of surprise is better anyways, and once the wedding pictures are up here you’ll be able to get the full effect…

Kayla decided to for-go the sash but we have a ruffle along the neck line and it turned out so pretty!! I was the test-dress, so mine needed a lot of altering, but now our fabulous seamstresses understand the pattern and the other dresses are being made as we speak :)

Now that we have the dress figured out we’re moving onto shoes. If anybody has a suggestion for a bridal party including an 8 month pregnant bridesmaid, an eleven year old bridesmaid, and a bridesmaid with a bad back – let me know ;) We’ve gone back and forth between heels, flats, or a mixture of both.  Ultimately, it’s Kay’s decision so I hope she can find something she’s happy with!

I can’t believe we’re only two months out… I’m getting so excited :)
Any Maid-of-Honor tips I should keep in mind as I get closer??

Summer Must-Haves

So I’m pretty much craving the beach A LOT. I just want warmth and sunshine on my skin. Tan skin. And the smell of the ocean. AH. Can’t wait for summer….

Love this nail polish color

OPI

and this beach cover up

Coverup

Annnd this floppy beach hat

hat

I’ve always wanted to wear a floppy beach hat on the beach. But I’ve never really had twenty bucks to spend on the hat when I need money for gas to get to the beach. Maybe this year will be different?  Hope so. Skin cancer is pretty serious – and this would be a pretty cute way to protect my skin. Yes, that definitely justifies the purchase…

One of my favorite beach trips of all time was last May. All my girlfriends from school spent the weekend in Delaware at my friend Kelsey’s beach house.  It is one of my favorite memories of freshman year. We woke up early the one morning and drove to the beach at 5am to watch the sunrise. It was so beautiful!

We also went to the beach every night after dinner. It was chilly ‘cause it’s not SUPER warm in Delaware in May. But that didn’t stop us :)

Only a few more weeks!! Can’t wait to plan our next trip to DE :)

My $10,300 Purse

Actually mine was $20 BUT a few days after I bought it I saw an almost identical bag by Hermes at the King of Prussia Mall in the Philadelphia Wedding Magazine (because we have lots of those around the house as bathroom reading material).

I originally wanted a bag that would hold my manila folder full of work papers, magazines, books, and my calendar along with the usual purse stuff. I looked at a bunch of stores and fell in love with this one when I saw it!! I got it at New York & Company and they are having HUGE sales. Everything is 50% off right now and there are other daily deals online. So hit that up if you’re in the need of new clothes/accessories!!

The first picture is more accurate in displaying it’s color. It’s not as orange as it looks below. Very camel-leathery. Also a very technical color name :)

I’m a happy camper :) I love it! It’s practical, stylish, and affordable!!

Gaga for GAGA

Ok - so I know that a few posts ago I said I was becoming quite disenchanted with Lady Gaga and I am hopping off the Born This Way bandwagon, but I can't help but notice something: Just like the boring/normal/average population of the world, fashion designers and celebrities are equally as obsessed. And they may not even know it, but it is quite obvious... the world has gone gaga for Gaga...
(I apologize for the clarity of these pictures... the detail is kinda hard to see... found them all on E!'s website under the fashion police section - You should read what they think about some of these pretty numbers!! Joan Rivers is brutal...)

Heidi Klum and J.Lo  -  Obvious victims of Poker Face - and it works, its harmless, its pretty
Rachel Bilson - This is an example of someone who has no idea what they just copied

Mila Kunis - Not a total Gaga makeover, but when I saw her on TV, I immediately thought meat

Demi Lovato - Big shoulders are in, so she's not too far off the mark but these are borderline HUGE

Fergie and Winona Rider - I do not understand why anyone would want BIGGER hips?!?

Shenae Grimes and Taylor Momson - Halloween only worse - I'm sad someone thought this was pretty and wearable in public and cool...

Michelle Williams - I love her cheetah shoes but this seems pretty deliberate - I always think of the Glee episode when someone runs in saying how Vocal Adrenaline bought red tulle and I think Artie (maybe not?) says "Oh No! They're doing GAGA"

Jessica Alba and Selena Gomez - They look gorg - But Gaga so started the mullet dress comeback
So obviously some of these aren't very pretty, or flattering, or modest, or classy BUT the point is that Gaga moved in and is taking over. First was the music industry, now its fashion, and pretty soon it'll be politics and the law - not to mention the minds of a young, impressionable, immoral, and corruptible America.

OK maybe I should get off the soapbox now... Oh how I miss the Poker Face days...

Internet Window Shopping

Sooo it was rainy and dreary and dark all day annnd I had nothing to do today and I could not fall asleep last night because of eating a brownie wayyy to late and a thunderstorm at 2am - and the reason I am telling you all of this is because I basically spent the entire day in bed. I know. It's really pathetic. But I am using the weather and my lack of excitement as justification for a bum day.  But here's what I did do today:
  • I watched three hours of tv online.
  • Spent two hours helping Mark with a paper/various other homework - super-girlfriend to the rescue... wish I had a theme song or a snazzy outfit... sweatpants and a long sleeved t-shirt realllllly are not considered cool in the super-hero business.
  • Made myself soup for lunch - yes I did venture out of my room, down the steps, and into the kitchen.
  • Attempted and failed at taking a nap
  • Annnnd last but certainly not least: I drooled over American Eagle's Spring Line... Here are some of my favorites!!

I love all of these tops because they could be worn with shorts on an outing in Philadelphia on a sunny Friday afternoon with Mark or could be worn with tailored white capris and the gladiator sandals to work. The shorts and beach hat aren't very versatile, but are definitly staples for a vacation at the shore. The yellow purse is something that I am hoping to buy my my tax refund - forreal! I love it! It has a cross-body or over the shoulder strap and handles, has lots of compartments, and it's yellow!! Finally the dress. Oh. This. Dress. I could wear this to work or church with a sweater, on a date by itself, and maybe even to the rehearsal dinner for my sister's wedding!! I am hoping that I get a really nice coupon in the mail from AEO and then can go get some of these items for Spring and Summer.

I am so ready for the warmer weather... aren't you?

    Hump Day Happiness

After an exhaustively boring day at work I went to the mall with my dear friend Rachel. She had birthday money and needed to return a birthday present, so I was merely going along for moral support. Riiight ;) My conscience was blocked out the second I walked into American Eagle.

I have had my eye on this blazer all season and finally jumped on it. Originally $69.50 - but on sale for $20.95. To say to least - I was a happy camper!! American Eagle's clearance was an additional 30% off!

I suppose all I need now is an occasion to wear it :)
