A Pop Culture Post

So since seeing Never Say Never and also rocking out to Baby and U Smile, I’ve been a Justin Bieber fan. His poster isn’t hanging behind my door and I wish when we was out with Selena he dressed like a normal person BUT I don’t hate him.

Since watching The Vampire Diaries on a whim last summer I HAVE BEEN HOOKED.
Stefan and Damon are just unbelievable. And Elena is gorgeous.

And then I realized. Stefan & Justin Bieber are twins. Or dopplegangers, which TVD has made way more cool than facebook ever could.

I rest my case. Long live Stefan Salvatore & Justin Bieber.

Instagram Lovin’

Last week I had a total geek moment when I realized Instagram was now app-ified for Android users.
And since then, I’ve been picture-happy. Not quite as much as my younger sister, but in love with Instagram all the same. I’ve been following Jenni at Story of My Life for a few months now and her Best of Instagram each week is always fun to browse on Sunday afternoons – I’ll be adding my own B.O.I. each week on Wednesdays.. here’s a look back at week one!

We gonna party like it’s ya birthday

Today is momma’s birthday.
And we’re celebrating tomorrow in the.best.way.

I’m really really looking forward to it.

summer 2011 103bw

I hope my Mom knows how loved she is. I hope she knows how much her daughters appreciate the small and large things she does for us. She teaches me more about sacrificial love and models serving those around her more than anyone I’ve ever known. She gives and gives and gives. And complains about her own sorrows or aches and pains very little and is always invested in my life. I tend to see my own issues more than my own blessings – let alone someone else's issues. I often feel like I can’t fit in one more thing and yet my responsibilities are far less than hers. She is so strong.
And she deserves all the love we can give her back. Thank you Mom – Happy Birthday!

Easterz

Easterz – if I’ve heard it once in the past month, I’ve heard it a million times.

But Easter Sunday was beautiful and full of family and food!

First was a wake up call from the sun streaming through the windows in my bedroom with a silent house. Which is rare. And wonderful.

Then was church at Calvary Chapel with Mark’s family. The music selections were impeccable – we sang some of my favorites. The sermon was different from a typical Easter service and it was a much welcomed changed. I knew it wouldn’t be an expected sermon and I learned a lot.

Next was brunch at my house with our family of seven – quiche, crepes, fruit, desserts, desserts, and more desserts. And a very intense Easter basket hunt – with Dad helping us via hot & cold, ahem.

Finally, Mark and I headed down to his house for Easter dinner with his family. Which resulted in a lot of sleepy and stuffed people. And yummy pudding, strawberries, and cool whip.

The sun was shining and it was close to 70 degrees – so perfect.

It was our first holiday in our new house and it was exciting. The house looks so pretty in the daylight. We miss it when we’re all at work/school during the day, so it was nice to enjoy it together.
Things are in bloom and our annual Easter pictures turned out all right…

It’s already April!?

April is going to fly by – how do I know this? It’s already April. That’s how. And I’m pretty sure Christmas was last week. And I’m having a hard time remembering to write 4 for April whenever I write the date at work because I just finally got the hang of writing 3 for March. But that’s all besides the point. April is jam packed with fun weekends!!

I’m looking forward to Easter this weekend. Brunch here. Dinner at Mark’s. And polka dots.
I’m excited to attend Easter services at Mark’s church because it’ll be neat to see how another church celebrates the day after spending it with my family every year. I’m also excited for Easter baskets from my mom because she is the best when it comes to gifts – she’s so thoughtful.

Speaking of that woman – her birthday is right around the corner. Which means a surprise dinner out with the family to celebrate. And this year Dad is really stepping it up a notch :)

And then towards the end of the month I’m attending the Women’s Conference at church with Mark’s mom and grandmother. It’ll be a lot of sitting in the sanctuary for two straight days but I can’t wait to learn and journal, journal, journal and sing! The acoustics are so good in that room and you can hear everyone singing. A room full of singing women will sound so beautiful.

I’m also prepping myself to start beginning to attempt getting excited about going to the gym again. But just like that sentence, it’s taking some effort. Maybe a new work out buddy will help. And by work out buddy I mean a bicycle. I guess it all depends on Target’s ability to stock anything other than hot pink bikes.

And then before we all know it, it’ll be May. Which is a tie for my 2nd favorite month of the year. So many birthdays and holidays. And perfect weather. But for now, I’m excited for April.

I leave you with pictures of my favorite cat in the whole world.

He looks a little angry but he’s quite charming. You’re welcome.
